Fiji Cultural Village — visual story

  1. Arriving as a guest. Half a day inside a working Fijian village, hosted by the people who live there.
  2. The drive out. Pickup from your Nadi-area hotel — included — and a short inland run, with the protocol explained on the way.
  3. Welcome and craft. The formal welcome, then weaving, masi or pottery shown by the makers.
  4. The meke. Song and dance performed by the village, then time to sit and talk.
  5. Farewell. A proper goodbye and the drive home. From FJD 165 per adult.

The day

A welcome, a craft and a meke — on the village's own terms.

This is the shortest cultural day we run and the most direct. You are a guest, not an audience: you are welcomed properly and shown how things are made.

Expect a formal welcome, a look at weaving, masi or pottery depending on who is hosting, a meke performed by the village, and time to sit and talk. Lunch is not part of the visit, so plan to eat before or after. Your guide explains the protocol before you arrive so nothing feels awkward.

It works well for families and for anyone who has a half day between arrival and their island transfer.

Best for
Families, first-time visitors and travellers with limited time.
Pace
Gentle. Seated for much of the visit.

Questions

Before you book

Is this a staged 'cultural centre'?

No. You visit a working village and the programme is run by the community that hosts you.

Can we bring a gift?

A contribution is already included in your tour price. If you would like to bring something for the children, ask your guide first.

Is lunch included?

No. Lunch is not part of the village visit, so plan to eat before or after. It is a half day, so most guests eat back at their hotel.

Do you pick us up from our hotel?

Yes. Hotel transfers are included both ways for Nadi-area accommodation. If you are staying further out, tell us where and we will confirm what we can arrange.

Can we add a beach stop?

Yes. We can add a stop at Wailoaloa Beach on the way back if you ask when you book.
